I wish I would have played it when I was younger, as I think i'd be a bit more forgiving than I am now.To get started check out our wiki page or The Emulation General Wiki. I created a video with some of my thoughts on the game. Are they trying to be a survival horror game, or an action game? It's pretty jarring, and I think the game struggles to find an identity due to this. One moment, you're playing it like a late 90's Capcom survival horror game with a fixed camera angle, then in an instant you're expected to switch to an over-the-shoulder aiming perspective like the newer REs, Gears, and Dead Space. Where the game struggles for me is with the camera and controls. It also looks surprisingly good for a game from the mid-2000's on PC (especially with a widescreen hack).

The game has some really good things going for it for example the different environmental hazards were interesting, especially having to deal with the heavy storm sliding you across the deck of the ship. Unfortunately, fifteen years later it doesn't really hold up well to modern standards in my opinion.

I had always had an interest in playing it, but never got around to it. I just recently played Cold Fear, a game that came out two months after Resident Evil 4 was originally released on the GameCube in 2005.
